Solihull has been voted the best place to live in the UK and consistently tops the charts each year. That must mean there are definitely some good things to do in Solihull!
Go ice skating
The Silver Blades Ice Rink in Solihull is the perfect place to see a game of ice hockey and brush up on your ice skating skills – not at the same time though! It’s really child-friendly and they have a good selection of ice skates.
The Solihull Arts Complex
The Solihull Arts Complex is a multi-purpose centre for all things art, culture, and lifestyle. You can see a musical, a play, live music, go to a comedy night, attend talks and workshops, and do some yoga classes. All in one place.
It’s also going through a refurbishment at the moment so it’s going to be even better.
With its own dedicated high street that boasts a John Lewis, the Touchwood shopping centre, and Mell Square, Solihull is a superb shopping location. We’ve got a Love Aroma store located in Mell Square so pop in if you’re in Solihull.
Treat yourself at a spa
Solihull has five different spas. That’s five different places to get a massage, go for a swim, hit the gym, or relax in the steam room or sauna. Maybe the amount of spas has something to do with Solihull being voted the best place to live in the UK…
Visit Umberslade Park
Umberslade Park isn’t strictly in Solihull but it’s not far. It’s a beautiful location that has a farm park (kids will love it), hosts different types of event, has a campsite, and is a wedding venue. If you want to get out of the town, this is a great choice.
Go to the Akamba Garden Centre
The Akamba Garden Centre owner boasts on his homepage that it is his own ‘little slice of Africa’. And you’d be forgiven if you thought you were actually in Africa when you get there. There are tropical plants, trees, and flowers all over the place. They recently introduced a number of exotica animal statues (elephants, for one) that were made in Kenya. So that really adds to the effect.
Elmdon Park is a huge park located quite centrally in Solihull. There are four different parts to it, each one with its own unique heritage. Its popular with locals who walk their dogs here.
The National Motorcycle Museum
Motorbikes are cool, no matter how old you are. Old motorbikes are even cooler. So it’s safe to say that the National Motorcycle Museum is a pretty cool place. With over 350 motorcycles on display, it’s an interesting day out for all.
Trek out to Malvern
Malvern and Brueton Park is effectively two parks in one. That goes for activities too with tennis courts, a 9-hole golf course, a rose garden, ponds, an old ice well, and a café. It makes a pleasant day exploring when the weather is nice.
Go to a conference or concert
The National Exhibition Centre is a stones-throw from Solihull town centre. There are always lots of events going on, including Crufts – the world-famous dog show. The Photography Show and the BBC’s Gardener’s World Live are also well-known events.
Bonus activity: catch a plane!
Solihull is very close to Birmingham International Airport so you could always go on holiday…!
It’s safe to say there are lots of things to do in Solihull, including visiting our lovely team over at the Love Aroma store in Mell Square. Come and see what we’ve got in stock!
